Always had aspirations of being a barista but not sure which coffee course to take? With a plethora of options out there, it can be confusing.

We’ve taken some time to pen down details of our most popular courses, and scheduled multiple dates for each. Established in 2011, Bettr Barista has been providing professional coffee education for almost a decade. We've trained thousands, from coffee hobbyists to professionals.

Coffee is one of the most consumed beverages in the world. There is a joy in learning how to make your own coffee and an art to appreciating coffee brewed for you.

The Foundation Series is perfect for someone who wants to be an all-rounder or an entrepreneur in the coffee industry. It is jam- packed with all the basics you need.

Take all 5 Foundation modules, certified by the Specialty Coffee Association. We recommend you take the modules in this order to maximize your learning experience.

  • SCA Sensory Foundation: Learn about the essentials of sensory evaluation in a practical and interactive manner. Sensory Skills investigates the way we perceive what we taste. Learn how to evaluate coffee’s natural characteristics, and implement this knowledge in business.
  • SCA Green Coffee Foundation: Learn the key concepts surrounding green coffee. This includes production, processing, grading, shipping, storage, arrival at destination. You'll also learn about coffee contracts and portfolio management.
  • SCA Barista Skills Foundation: Learn the practical skills you need behind the espresso bar. How to set your grinder, milk techniques and latte art, health and safety, customer service and basic business practices.
  • SCA Brewing Foundation: Learn about the variety of methods for brewing coffee and the brewing variables that affect quality. You'll learn about grind profiles, brewing methods, measuring coffee strength and charting extraction.
  • SCA Roasting Foundation: Learn about the roasting process. This includes the roast cycle, roast levels, identifying defects and physical changes beans undergo. as well as workspace management and lean production.

2. SCA Barista Skills & Brewing Skills Duo - Utilise your SFC for both courses!
For those of you who are mainly interested in learning how to brew coffee, this is a great duo for you to sign up for. You’ll pick up the skills needed to start making coffee behind the espresso bar as well as basic hand brewing techniques. Together, they are a great combination to start off with.
