Sensory Foundation covers the essentials of sensory evaluation. You will learn how to perceive taste and how to apply it to the evaluation of coffee.
Roasting Foundation teaches you the fundamentals of the roasting process, the physical changes that take place the process and how to control sensory aspects of the coffee by roasting light or dark.
Having a combination of Sensory and Roast skills allows you, the Home Roaster, to understand roast profiles and how to control the outcome you are after. You'll be open to the sensory spectrum of the coffee you are roasting. Talk to our trainers when you come for class and they'll advise you on the equipment you'll need to get started!
