Barista Skills Foundation allows learners to gain an understanding of coffee itself as well as foundational skills required to operate an espresso bar.
This includes, how to set a grinder, make espressos, foam and texture milk and latte art techniques as per SCA quality standards, while implementing health and safety practices and customer service.
Practical learning objectives and activities prepare the learner to conduct key foundational tasks of a barista. A written exam tests theoretical knowledge based on Foundation course learning objectives.

E-learning (45 mins) - What is Specialty Coffee? (You will only need to complete this once, if you are signed up for multiple SCA Foundation classes)
Virtual Classroom (3 hours) - The theory components of the module you have signed up for will be taught by an instructor in a Virtual Classroom, on the date that you have signed up for.
Practical (6.5 hours) - Followed by a practical component of the class at our Academy. Please choose the your practical date from the options above and indicate your choice at checkout.

The course fee includes course learning material, SCA examination and certification. You will be eligible for the SCA Foundation Certificate once you complete the course and obtain a passing mark for the theory exam (online).
Note: Theory re-exam/re-enrolment fee is S$40.00 (upon 2 failed attempts) Students may also opt out of the exam if they choose to. There will be no SCA certification given in this case, but a certificate of completion from Bettr Barista.
This course is SkillsFuture Credit Eligible (for Singaporeans).
NTUC members enjoy 50% unfunded course fee support for up to $250 each year (or up to $500 for NTUC members aged 40 years old and above) when you sign up for courses supported under UTAP (Union Training Assistance Programme). Please visit e2i’s website to find out more.
We require a minimum number of 6 learners to run each class. If the number of sign-ups does not meet this requirement, learners will be notified and have their class rescheduled to the next available date.
