WSQ Prepare and Serve Hot Beverages

For kopi and teh lovers, or those keen to join the F&B industry, get up close to Singapore’s heritage coffee culture in this course. You’ll get to learn about the heritage coffee scene, the hot beverages served in traditional coffee shops and how to prepare them.

This course is offered as a blended learning course - students will be expected to complete a 2-hour E-learning theory module followed by 2 full days of practical in-person class taught in the Academy. 


How well do you know your Kopi-O from your Kopi-C, and your Teh Gao from your Teh Poh? Why is Yuan Yang the best of both worlds? These are just some of the lingo and drinks you might encounter in traditional coffee shops.
Be introduced to the world of heritage beverages and kopi with our experienced trainers, learn all about the hot beverages served in traditional coffee shops and how to prepare them. You’ll also pick up skills on communicating more effectively with customers and co-workers.

- Self E-Learning (2 hours)

Day 1:
- Overview of the heritage coffee scene in Singapore
- Knowing the tools, equipment and ingredients for hot beverage preparation
- Knowing the steps to prepare and serve different hot beverages served in a traditional coffee shop

Day 2:
- Practise: Knowing the steps to prepare and serve different hot beverages served in a traditional coffee shop
- Knowing the steps to reinstate work stations
- Reflective practice and continuous learning (group discussion)
 Written and practical assessment

Upon completion, the learner will have the knowledge and application skills in preparing and serving hot beverages offered at a traditional coffee shop.

We require a min of 6 students to run the class. Basic numeracy and English literacy skills (level 2) are required.

Upon successful completion of this module and its assessments, learners will obtain a Statement of Attainment (SOA) under Non-Alcoholic Beverage Preparation Level 2.
