Bettr Barista is thrilled to be bringing world class coffee education to Jakarta, Indonesia.

We are a home-grown specialty coffee company founded in 2011, a leading provider of specialty coffee education, and operate a certified Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) Premier Training Campus in Singapore, where we are headquartered.

What is specialty coffee?

This 3-hour workshop is for anyone who is curious about specialty coffee and wants to learn more about the world’s favourite drink.

This workshop will:

  • Equip you with foundational knowledge of specialty coffee and the industry

  • Help you understand coffee aromas and flavours, as well as how to taste specialty coffee

  • Introduce the Bettr Barista Education Ecosystem and learning pathways

WHAT IS BREWING?

This 3-hour hands-on workshop explores the world of hand-brewing. Learners will learn to work with different brew techniques and devices.

This workshop covers:

  • Introduction to different brewing methods

  • Kettle Control

  • Brew Extraction Theory

  • Gravity Method Hands On

Intro to Espresso + Espresso Service Level 1

A 2.5-day course designed to give budding baristas a strong foundation in the fundamentals of producing espresso-based drinks.

Espresso Service Level 1 content (2 days)

  • Steps of Espresso

  • Dial in to parameters (vol)

  • Intro to Milk Steaming

  • Intro to Pouring

  • Making Lattes & Cappuccinos

Intro to Espresso (4 hours)
This portion introduces students to the world of espresso-based drinks and related equipment and will cover:

  • Bar Drinks

  • Espresso Extraction

  • Steps of Espresso

  • Espresso Equipment

  • Cleaning & Maintenance

SCA Barista Foundation

SCA Barista Foundation is for those new to the coffee industry and focuses on the key skills required to set your grinder, brew espresso and foam and texture milk for cappuccinos.

This course is designed to introduce core barista skills to people with no previous barista experience. Students will learn to do a simple calibration of their grinders and make an espresso and cappuccino to core standards.

Course Overview:

9am - 12:30pm: Espresso Basics
1:30pm - 3.30pm: Milk Basics
3.30pm - 6pm: Hands-on Practice, Cleaning & Maintenance

SCA Sensory Foundation

Sensory Foundation covers the essentials of sensory evaluation in a practical and interactive manner.

It investigates the way we perceive what we taste and how to apply this knowledge when evaluating coffee’s natural characteristics. It also offers an introduction to identifying specialty coffee qualities, as well as an overview of how to implement this in business.

SCA Brew Foundation

SCA Brew Foundation introduces the beginner to the different ways of brewing coffee, from Chemex and siphon to clever dripper and French press.

Designed to introduce the novice to the core skills and equipment required to produce great brewed coffee. No prior knowledge is needed before taking this module. A passion for great coffee is essential! Students will learn the following:

  • Introduction to Coffee and Coffee Extraction

  • The Essential Elements of Brew

  • Introduction to Brewing Methods
