SCA roasting Skills - Foundation (1 day, 9am - 6pm)

For: New/working commercial roasters, coffee geeks/enthusiasts
Recommended courses before taking this class are Sensory Foundation and Green Coffee Foundation.

The Foundation course gives a basic understanding of the roasting process, including the roast cycle and how to control sensory aspects of the coffee by roasting light or dark.

It is designed to introduce the novice into the core skills and equipment required to produce great roasted coffee. Ideal for someone who is considering a vocation as a coffee roaster.

PRE-CLass workshop

“What is Specialty Coffee” is a pre-class introductory workshop that teaches basic coffee concepts and introduces specialty coffee tasting which will be applied to all SCA Foundation classes. This workshop is provided at no extra cost and all students are strongly encouraged to attend as it eases you into the class.

What you will learn:

  • Understand basic coffee aromas and flavours

  • Understand how to taste coffee

  • Gain insight into the Bettr Coffee Education System

The workshop is conducted on weekdays and weekends at 10 am - 12.30 pm / 2 pm - 4.30 pm / 6.30 pm - 9 pm. You can select your workshop date when you book your Foundation class online.

 

COURSE FEE: S$480.00 (INCLUDING GST)

This course is SkillsFuture Credit Eligible (for Singaporeans).

The course fee includes 1 written and 1 practical test. Any subsequent retests will be charged as follows:

  • Written retest - S$40.00

  • Practical retest - S$80.00

We require a minimum number of 3 learners to run each class. If the number of sign-ups does not meet this requirement, learners will be notified and have their class rescheduled to the next available date.
