On 12 September 2017, Bettr Barista was recognised for being among the companies creating the most positive community impact based on an independent, comprehensive assessment administered by the nonprofit B Lab. Honorees are featured on B the Change, the digital Medium publication produced by B Lab.
This is the second year running that Bettr Barista has been honoured in the Best for Community list, which includes businesses that earned a Community score in the top 10 percent of more than 2,100 Certified B Corporations on the B Impact Assessment. The full assessment measures a company's impact on its workers, community, customers and the environment.

The Community portion of the B Impact Assessment evaluates a company’s supplier relations, diversity, and involvement in the local community. It also measures the company’s practices and policies around community service and charitable giving, including whether a company’s product or service is designed to solve a social issue, such as access to basic services, health, education, economic opportunity and the arts. Honourees scoring in the top 10 percent set a gold standard for how business can be a force for good in communities around the world. Bettr Barista made the list thanks to exceptional practices like our Holistic Training Programme and Coffee Carts for Community.

The 180 winning companies in the Community category come from 80 industries and 34 countries.

Best for the World is the only list of businesses making the greatest positive impact that uses comprehensive, comparable, third-party-validated data about a company’s social and environmental performance.”    

A total of 846 Certified B Corporations were named 2017 Best for the World Honourees, including: Patagonia; Seventh Generation; National Co+op Grocers; and Business Development Bank of Canada. On 16 April 2015, we joined the ranks of over 1,600 Certified B Corporations from more than 60 industries in 34 countries who are leading a global movement to redefine success in business.

B Corps use the power of our businesses as a force for good – to solve social and environmental problems. We work to create value for society, not just shareholders, and aim to inspire all businesses to compete not only to be the best in the world, but to be the best for the world.


As a result of our collective success, individuals and communities will enjoy greater economic opportunity, society will address its most challenging environmental problems, and more people will find fulfillment by bringing their whole selves to work.

As a Certified B Corporation, we voluntarily submit ourselves to meeting higher standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. The performance standards are comprehensive and transparent, and Certified B Corps are legally required to consider the impact of our decisions not only on our shareholders, but also on our stakeholders (staff, suppliers, community, consumers, and the environment).
