What it means to be a Certified B Corporation

On 16 April 2015, Bettr Barista joined the ranks of over 2,100 Certified B Corporations from more than 130 industries in 50 countries who are leading a global movement to redefine success in business.

B Corps use the power of our businesses as a force for good – to solve social and environmental problems. We work to create value for society, not just shareholders, and aim to inspire all businesses to compete not only to be the best in the world, but to be the best for the world.

As a result of our collective success, individuals and communities will enjoy greater economic opportunity, society will address its most challenging environmental problems, and more people will find fulfillment by bringing their whole selves to work.

As a Certified B Corporation, we voluntarily submit ourselves to meeting higher standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. The performance standards are comprehensive and transparent, and Certified B Corps are legally required to consider the impact of our decisions not only on our shareholders, but also on our stakeholders (staff, suppliers, community, consumers, and the environment).

Read our B Impact Report and why all this really matters.

On 12 September 2017, Bettr Barista was recognised -- for the second year running -- as being among the companies creating the most positive community impact. This is based on an independent, comprehensive assessment administered by the nonprofit B Lab.

The Community portion of the B Impact Assessment evaluates a company’s supplier relations, diversity, and involvement in the local community. It also measures the company’s practices and policies around community service and charitable giving, including whether a company’s product or service is designed to solve a social issue, such as access to basic services, health, education, economic opportunity and the arts.

Companies like Bettr Barista exemplify what it means for a business to be a good citizen. We’re proud to recognise their achievement. Best for the World is the only list of businesses making the greatest positive impact that uses comprehensive, comparable, third-party-validated data about a company’s social and environmental performance.
— Jay Coen Gilbert, Co-Founder, B Lab

Honourees scoring in the top 10 percent set a gold standard for how business can be a force for good in communities around the world. Bettr Barista made the list thanks to exceptional practices like our Holistic Training Programme and retail coffee bars that bring specialty coffee to the wider community.

We do business with some of the world's best: entities large and small that are champions of socially responsible enterprise, who share in our purpose and are equally driven to using business as a force for good - from cafe partners and community partners to corporate supporters and other angels.

Please get in touch if you represent a corporation that would like to work with us.
