SCA sensory Skills - Foundation (1 Day)
For: Aspiring baristas, roasters and coffee professionals looking to understand the sensory basics of specialty coffee
This course is designed to introduce core sensory skills to those with no previous experience. It investigates the way we perceive what we taste and how to apply this knowledge when evaluating coffee’s natural characteristics.
No prior knowledge is needed before taking this module, although it is recommended that you take the Introduction to Coffee module. A passion for great coffee is essential!
Students will learn the following:
- What is Sensory Analysis & Evaluation?
- Why is sensory analysis important in coffee?
- Tastes & Aromas in Coffee
- Cupping Protocols
- Core Sensory Equipment
Course Fee: S$480.00 (including GST)
The course fee includes 1 written and 1 practical test. Any subsequent retests will be charged as follows:
- Written retest - S$40.00
- Practical retest - S$80.00
We require a minimum of 2 students to run the class on the stipulated dates, if we do not meet the requirement, students will be informed accordingly and moved to the next available date. Please read our FAQ page to learn more about rescheduling/cancellation policies.
Take both Foundation and Intermediate classes at a special package price of S$1,265 (instead of $1,330). Additional package pricing combinations are available.
